The Oriental studies taught at the Department of Oriental Studies

Objectives
The Department of Oriental Languages and Cultures offers three specialized programs: Japanese Study, Korean Study, and Vietnamese Studies (only for foreigners)
The Department’s graduates have:
  • Profound knowledge of the economic, social, cultural issues of Japan, and Korea;
  • Fluency of specialized language (Japanese, and Korean)
  • Profound knowledge of the economic, social, cultural issues of Vietnam (only for foreigners)

Job opportunities
The Department’s graduates will have chances to:
  •  Work as specialists or managers, interpreters/ translators at cultural institutions; education or diplomatic organizations; foreign or domestic companies; representative offices; chamber of commerce; press and media agencies.
  • Be language teachers or researchers in Japanese studies and Korean studies at schools or organizations. A graduate will also have the ability to directly administrate, organize, or guide domestic / international tours.
  • Be able to continue his/her studying in postgraduate programs or to be a candidate of different programs, such as Linguistics, Asian Studies, Cultural Studies, World History Studies, Oriental Studies...
  • Join 1 or 2-year programs (2+2 joint program, 1+3 joint program) to enhance his/her skills or follow the Master programs in our partner universities in Japan/Korea, such as: Bukkyo University, Ibaraki Christian University, Kobe International University, TeikyoUniversity, University of Fukui, Manabi Japanese Language Institute, YoungsanUniversity, YeungnamUniversity, Kwangju Women’s University, Jeju National University, Chungwoon University, Dongguk University, Wonkwang University, etc.
